Under EU and Austrian consumer law, customers usually have the right to withdraw from online purchases within 14 days without giving a reason.

However, this right does not apply to event or workshop tickets that are tied to a specific date or time.

Legal Basis:

According to §18(1)(10) of the Austrian Distance Selling Act (FAGG), there is no right of withdrawal for:

“Services related to leisure activities, if the contract provides for a specific date or period of performance.”

This means that once your booking for an event or workshop has been confirmed, you cannot withdraw or cancel it under the standard 14-day right of withdrawal.

Of course, if we cancel or reschedule an event, you’ll receive a full refund or replacement option (see our Refund Policy below).

Refund Policy

We understand that plans can change, and we aim to handle all refund situations fairly and transparently.

1. If We Cancel or Reschedule an Event

  • If an event or workshop is cancelled by us, you’ll receive a full refund of your ticket price.

  • If the event is rescheduled, your ticket will remain valid for the new date. If you cannot attend, you may request a refund or credit voucher.

  • Refunds will be issued to your original payment method (Stripe or PayPal) within 14 business days.


2. If You Cannot Attend

  • Tickets are non-refundable once purchased.

  • However, you may transfer your ticket to another person free of charge — just send us their name and email before the event.

  • In exceptional cases (e.g. illness or emergency), we may offer a credit voucher at our discretion.


3. Event Changes

  • We may occasionally need to adjust event details such as location, time, or program.

  • Such changes do not entitle you to a refund unless the event is substantially altered (for example, full cancellation or change of main speaker).


4. How to Request a Refund or Credit

If you are eligible for a refund or would like to transfer your ticket, please email us at leni@matildasbooks.at with:

  • Your order number

  • The event name and date

  • A brief description of your request

We’ll confirm receipt and process your request as quickly as possible.
